Alix Boyle at the Hartford Courant wrote a great article (link no longer available) about our apprentice program. It includes some really nice photos of the apprentices at work.

While the Eli Whitney program appeals to a broad range of kids (artists, mathematicians, scientists, builders), working there has been a niche for kids with learning disabilities and will continue to be, Brown predicts.

"We absolutely could not run the museum without them," Brown said. "The apprentice program is consistent with the site here. In his writings, Eli Whitney mused, 'We make armorers as well arms,' meaning that the workers were so valuable that they were more valuable than the guns. They were people adept at finding new ways of doing things."
