Soldering is an essential skill and art. It is not complex. But it requires a careful introduction and abundant practice. It is the first step into the world of electronics.

Spend a day learning to solder safely and efficiently. Practice assembling random components into small sculptures, jewelry or creatures.

Then assemble an artful Treasure Lamp. Assemble a battery pack, a switch, a transistor, a capacitor and LEDs. Learn what each component does and how it works. Your lamp will illuminate or conceal a tiny treasure.

For children ready to own a first Soldering Iron: irons, solder, and guidelines for parental supervision are available.
