If you want to learn to program, you don't just need lessons. You need to write a lot of code and really enjoy doing it. That's what programming is about. It's fun (not fun like 'yay I got a badge' but fun like 'wait mom, I just have to finish building this level!'. That's why CodeCombat is a multiplayer game, not just a 'gameified' lesson course.

Code Combat is an online game that teaches 'grown-up' typed programming languages like Python through challenging puzzles. Forge through dungeons and dark forests, battling goblins and wizards. New concepts are introduced as you go by finding 'gear' that expands your hero's program. When you complete the course, play continues as you compete in 'code battles,' pitting your hero's combat programs against other players'.

Since our last session, Code Combat has added two new worlds with dozens of new, trickier, coding challenges for kids who have mastered the old.

An email address is required to use Code Combat. If you don't have one, we can help you sign up for your first.
