2016 Summer Program

Long ago, games found their rules scratched in dirt. Stones, or seeds, or wood bits became the playing pieces. In every region of the world, some games became so popular that fans created boards to standardize rules and to make play portable. Much later manufacturers took over.

Start from the beginning. Build and play classic games from Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and the United States. Decorate the boards and game pieces with the colors and designs that remember the game's origins. Learn hte rules and play. No buttons, no batteries. But challenges, strategy, and hours of companionship that will rival the contemporary games toys know.

Learn some tricks for inventing your own game. Build a box to store and carry your work.
