2018 Summer Program

The potter’s wheel is a mesmerizing object – the spinning movement, the interaction of your hands and the transformation of clay into plates, bowls, vases and more. During this week, spend relaxing time under the spell of clay on the wheel and create elegant objects. Use the magic of the wheel to make, and the metamorphosis of the kiln to transform, those objects into fired permanence .

Use other building technics to create an array of hand-built objects or jewelry. Build a wooden box to contain your treasured products.

The week will end with an exiting Raku firing where you will experience another kind of metamorphosis using sawdust and flame.

The Department of Economic and Community Development and the Connecticut Office for the Arts helped underwrite the Museum's Visiting Artist Program.
