100 years ago in New Haven, A.C. Gilbert (1884 - 1961) invented a small place for invention: the Erector Set. It's heart was the electric motor. He put the first flexible use motor into the hands of a generation of young inventors. Construct a study of Gilbert's motor and pulleys. Try some classic experiments. then choose a workshop to mechanize a car, or a crane, or kinetic art.
