  • Designed for ages 9 to 12

It can take 100 year to grow a tree that will yield the long, straight and powerful beams that supported the roofs of great factories. Gradually house structures have given way to more modern buildings. But not all beams are lost. Some find their way to Reclamation Lumber in Fair Haven. From there, some are cut to produce beautiful floors. Some bring beauty and warmth to new buildings. And small offcuts have found their way to the Museum for you to work with.

Find the beauty in rescued wood. Construct, smooth and finish a small stool. Then cut shape and finish a keepsake box for yourself or for a gift. Discover the beauty in wood given a second life. Understand that sometimes eccentricity in form is all the more wonderful.
