Heidi is the story of a young Swiss girl who finds health and strength in the simple mountain cabin of her grandfather and the goats that provide them milk and cheese. Life in the city is far less healthy. The story was published 135 years ago.

Jason Sobosinski runs the restaurant Caseus. He has been working with the farmers to produce cheese near here so he can serve it perfectly fresh. Dowel Raha manages Whole G Bakery which makes bread so close that you can taste it warm. She can tell you where every ingredient in her bread comes from.

Make Heidi, Peter the goatherd, and a herd of goats. Make cheese to take home. Toast cheese over an open fire. Knead and bake pretzels. Discover how different very local food tastes.

With a few scenes from Heidi (1937) as a tribute to Shirley Temple (1928 – 2014).

by Jason Sobosinski, Caseus Fromagerie; and Dowel Raha, Whole G Bakery
