Beginning in September 2024, the Eli Whitney Museum & Workshop is launching a new two-year artist-in-residence program.

This residency is intended for an emerging to mid-career artist who desires a place to explore and experiment.

We are looking for a passionate artist or artisan who is excited about education and becoming an active part of EWMW community.

EWMW will provide:

  • A studio space with an adjacent storage space and bathroom with heating and water utilities included
  • Space Dimensions: Studio Space of 32.24' x 14.63', Bathroom of 8.59' x 5.58', and Alcove of 11.42' x 6.87'
  • Shop support
  • Facilities maintenance
  • Promotional support: marketing for the annual Open Studios event and other programs


    The artist will provide:
  • Promotional images of artwork and professional headshot for marketing
  • Yearly Open Studio exhibition in the Eli Whitney Barn
  • One week of summer camp for youth
  • Donations to the museum's annual fundraiser, the Leonardo Challenge
  • A fall and spring adult workshop for ages 16+
  • Electrical Utilities

    Applicants will be reviewed by three paid community members. Howard el-Yasin, Jessica Smolinski, and Gar Waterman
