Ages 8 – 9
Tynker is a new way to learn programming, part of Code.org's "Hour of Code" project. Learn the basic concepts using drag-and-drop "logic blocks" which snap together like puzzle pieces to solve puzzles. Help Pixel the Puppy find his way home, or rescue Biff the Astronaut from marauding space zombies, using repeat loops, conditionals, and basic algorithms: everything new programmers need to write their first programs.
When you've finished the puzzles, move on to develop your own simple game with MIT Media Lab’s Scratch, which allows you to create interactive stories, animations, games, music, and art - and share your creations on the web. You will need an e-mail address (either your own or a parent's) in order to share your work online. Or, you can bring your project home on a USB drive or CD.
