2019 Summer Program

As America began to concentrate work and people in cities in the 19th Century, thoughtful educators and organizations advocated reconnecting children (and adults) with nature. We organized parks and camps: the air was fresher, schedules could be relaxed, play and learning could be spontaneous.

Katy Botta is an experienced early childhood educator who has explored the European and American learning in nature movements. This class will abandon its studio for a corner of our site we rarely use.The group will construct meeting and play structures. Watch birds and bugs. Learn to listen to birds and bugs, water and the wind. Build and float boats. Weave vines. Learn to construct tools from sticks and stones and mud. But mostly chose paths and adventures to explore.
