When a potter enters the studio, s/he walks towards the clay mound – weighs and wedges a certain amount of clay – sometimes predetermined, sometimes random. Starting with a smooth clay ball, all air extracted, s/he sits at the wheel and the magic begins.

The spinning movement mesmerizes, and the interaction between the clay, the hands and the wheel takes her mind to a place where aesthetics, a trained eye, and the clay become one.

With clay, one of the world’s oldest artistic traditions, there is no thinking – but rather an intimate and intuitive dialog. Old and new meet – and another ceramic piece is born into our world.
