You take moving pictures for granted. Lift phone. Press button. Capture. But not 130 years ago…

A lot of invention made this possible. 130 years ago, Thomas Edison contributed an important breakthrough to this history. Others had discovered the possibility of assembling moving images. Edison's laboratory built a Kinetograph to record continuous movement, and a Kinetoscope to project it. Edison made the first real movies.

Recreate the discoveries that led to Edison's leap – a Thaumatrope, a Flip Book, a Zoetrope.

Then build a 4 frame animator first devised by the A.C. Gilbert Company 80 years ago. It's flashing lights will make your illustrations dance. All this to help to appreciate the enormous power you can summon with a touch.
