Marine biology and ceramics converge this week to recreate the wonders of Coral Reefs around the world. The artwork of artist and ocean advocate, Courtney Mattison, will inspire and instill passion for her cause. Work with an array of materials and travel around the globe to explore reefs everywhere from Australia to Brazil, French Guiana, the Philippines, and of course Miami, USA. Take a plunge into the heart of the Great Barrier Reef in Australia and the reefs of the Amazon and Tubbataha, as well as Miami’s Terrace Reef. Use clay and color to recreate these rainforests of the sea.

Of course, we cannot forget the creatures that call the reefs home. Giant clams, sea turtles, eels, starfish and cuttlefish live among the coral along with the plants and algae that work together to help this ecosystem thrive. How can we help these fragile beauties survive through climate change and devastation? These exotic and natural underwater art installations must be treasured and preserved.

A portion of proceeds will go to Save the Sound to help rebuild oyster beds, decimated by over harvesting.
