Workshops and Classes outside of our Summer schedule are offered during the Fall, Winter and Spring. They are typically 4 to 6 week classes for children or adults who are interested in expanding their command of computer, electronics, aeromodeling or building programs. Not every discipline is offered in every season.

Scratch for Beginners (8 – 9 year olds)

Designed at the MIT Media Lab, Scratch is a free web-based programming language that allows you to create your own interactive stories, animations, games, music and art - and share your creations on the web. You'll learn all the basics, like drawing and animating characters, or 'sprites', adding sound, and movement.

A Beginner is anyone 8 - 9 yrs who has not yet learned Scratch or has only had 1 class before and wants to refresh their beginning skills.

Saturdays 10 - 11:30 am

Fee for 4 week session (1.5 hours each): $108 (members $97)

Arcade Game Builder

Using Scratch, MIT's web-based programming language, we will pay tribute to yesterday's hits by breaking them down into their component
art, sounds, and mechanics - and building something new. We can make them bigger, harder, better. We have the technology.

(10+ year old - Some experience necessary.)

Saturdays 2 - 4 pm [four 2-hour classes]

3D Printing: Back to School (First Session)

What could be a better way to learn CAD programs than to have a 3D model printing out in front of you? Learn the principles of 3D design using the simple but powerful web-based tools TinkerCAD and 123D Design to prototype your ideas, then print your models in plastic with our MakerBot 3D printer. Gear up for the school year with customized pencil toppers, backpack zipper pulls, or rulers.

Session 1: Sundays 11 - 1 pm (three 2-hour classes)
Sept 29; Oct 6, 13

Classes will be combined or cancelled if minimum enrollment not achieved.
