2015 Summer Program
Crash test dummies need high speed photography – a high speed camera that breaks down a second of impact into images that would otherwise be a blur to the eye. Stop Motion Photography is older than Crash Test Dummies. The brilliant English photographer Eadweard Muybridge captured the gallop of horses in 1878. MIT's "Doc" Edgerton caught bullets in flight in the 1950's. Now the digital camera gives everyone the power to stop time.
Break it down. Construct a Stroboscopic Praxinoscope to animate and stop motion. Then construct and test Crash Test Dummies. Water balloon them. Construct a sports car and then stop it in mid air as it jumps from ramp to ramp. Most important: invent your own stop motion experiments.
Camera not included.
