2007 Summer Program
Robert Fulton was born the same year as Eli Whitney. They knew of each others fame and exchanged letters. On August 17, 1807, two hundred years ago this week, Fulton launched America's first commercially successful steamboat. Construct a 1/4' scale model of his North River Steamboat, sometimes called the Clermont. Power it with batteries. Explore the history that made Hudson River trade so important. Developed with a grant from the Woman's Seaman's Friend Society.
Batteries included.
